As the rescue operations continue for the Uttarakhand Avalanche, Chamoli's District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari has confirmed four deaths. The DM further stated that the rescue operations will continue today as four workers are yet to be found.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday morning, Tiwari said - "Yesterday, doctors have confirmed 4 deaths. Earlier, the total number was 55, but now we have the information that one of the workers was on unauthorised leave, and he is home. The total number has reduced to 54, out of which 4 people are still missing."

The avalanche, which occurred on Friday, trapped around 54 workers, who were working on a Border Roads Organisations (BRO) project.
As reported by the Indian Express, the Army is racing against time to locate the remaining three steel containers in which the workers were staying.
To locate these containers, Army sniffer dogs have been deployed, and a Ground Penetrating Radar has been ordered from New Delhi to find the missing workers.

Indian Air Force's Mi-17 choppers have also been deployed for the search and rescue mission.
Authorities are working to hasten the rescue operation after the Indian Meteorological Department warned of rain and snowfall in Chamoli.
The avalanche hit between 5:30 AM to 6 AM on Friday, trapping 54 workers as the BRO camp between Badrinath was buried under the snow in Mana. As per the Uttarakhand government, the trapped labourers are from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Jammu and Kashmireoe777, among other states.
